In the time of our lives….

This weekend in David Bentley Hart’s, Leaves in the Wind, part two of “Mind, Nature, Emergence” we find much to reflect upon in our world of the autonomous revolution where AI will become the dominant factor as much as what automation was to the industrial revolution.

In the world that Kevin Kelly calls the “Technium” the seventh kingdom of nature, let me paraphrase a small section of the article from DBH, as I applied it to AI. Nothing that Artificial Intelligence (AI) does is anything more than the mathematically predictable result of all of its physical predecessors. This leaves us with the question do we understand the difference in being human and the difference it makes and why that is important?

What may seem like an obvious answer in our world today is just not so…..The importance of philosophy especially systematic theology is paramount in the rise of the autonomous revolution.

Think of the writings of mystics and begin to think how does the wisdom bestowed has a cause/effect in our age of technology. Technology is not going away especially AI.

These are pretty exciting times, the time of our lives is analogous to the beginning years of the industrial revolution. We know from history the cause/effect thereof. The good, the bad, and the ugly. But all in all the greater good prevailed from time to time but not always. For all of us, especially those who are in the 30s and 40s these are exciting times to be in the making of a most significant societal phase change, a new era of understanding what it means to be human.
