Who are we in the Kingdom?

The prophetic tasks of the church are, to tell the truth in a society that lives in illusion, grieve in a society that practices denial, and express hope in a society that lives in despair.” – Walter Brueggemann

Jesus of Nazareth, spoke often of the Kingdom of God is now. The kingdom is about how we care for the planet, for all human beings, and yes all living creatures. The plant was entrusted into the hands of humans not to destroy, or have dominion over for personal gain but for all living creatures. To do this we must change. The translation for that word in scripture is “repent” which is to change your mind, change your ways. Change is the key.

Jesus came and created a “kingdom movement” that creates a prophetic community. The Spirit in people energizes the on going movement. We are one with this universe. If you have any doubts reflect on Genesis 3:19 “By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Matthews Gospel is the call to live that life of the Kingdom.

My friend and pastor of a local church have traditionally written what he calls “Words for the Wind” (WFW) each week in the parish bulletin. In the time of COVID, he provides the WFF in youtube.

Listen and think about our life as followers in the Kingdom
